Don't dumb it down

Last night the girls and I were going to a High School Musical 2 party, and before we went I wanted to feed the girls a little something since there would be snacks and dessert, but no dinner. So I bbq-ed a hamburger for the three of us to share – ½ for me, and ¼ each for the girls. Usually when we have burgers the girls get ½, so just to explain this departure from the norm I told Adrienne that since we would be having snacks at the party I was giving her ½ of a ½ of a hamburger – thinking that would make more sense to her than ¼. Her response? --- “You mean a quarter?”
