Suggestions Please?

Original post - We have a few names that we're considering for this baby, but I would like some ideas...so please leave a comment with boy name ideas. Nothing too common because we have a common last name, but nothing to weird either. Right now the top two contenders are Jeremy and Nathaniel.

8/12/07 - We are liking Edward lately...we'll see if it pans out. Mike's middle name is Edward and I believe it's a family name on his side. I think we might have Edward on my side too, but I will have to check on that...I might be thinking of Gustav...I believe there are Gustav's in each of our families. By the way, Edward ranked 143 on Social Security's top 1000 list for last year, so not super common, although I'm sure there are many Edward Miller's out there, there probably aren't going to be as many in this generation because it has been declining in popularity over the years (it was #9 100 years ago).

8/16/07 - You can still feel free to give suggestions, but we're going with Edward for now.

Ooh, I like Nathaniel. I also really like Luke - one of my favorite boy names. We considered it for Calvin, but he just didn't seem like a Luke to us in the end. I'm also a fan of Henry, but that one's pretty popular right now.

Actually Luke and Henry have been considered too. Henry's not too terribly popular - it ranks 95 on Social Security's site for 2006, but it has been increasing in popularity over the last 10 yrs. Nathaniel's 69 and Jeremy's 123. Luke's 43, so that's a little too common. Calvin's 220, so you made a good choice. It's funny because looking through the list of the top 1000 to get ideas we found a name that we sort of liked (Mike esp. with his mechanical engineer interests) and it was Kelvin which ranks 434 - but, you know, it's a little close to Calvin :-) But I am thinking of going back to the more old fashioned names like Henry, because they wouldn't be as popular now, so I'm going to print out a list of the top 500 or so from the early 1900's to see what was popular then. Thanks for the suggestions, I guess Nathaniel will stay at the top for now! (Oh, P.S. Adrienne likes Henry, and I seriously had just mentioned it to Mike the night before you left your comment, so it's sort of in the running too!)I really liked Jack too, but I guess Mike knew some schmuck named Jack, and thought his friends would give him a hard time over it. I've got a few names that are sort of taboo for reasons not to be mentioned, so I guess I understand that, I just thought Jack was really cute.

i like Brooks. Or William. and a W name combined with the first letters of all your names would spell M-A-C-A-W. giggle. then you could have one more but it would have to be with an S so it could spell MACAWS.
:) forgive me- im up too late! but i really do like both those names.
i went into kks ultrasound freaked out because i had a boys name picked out but i thought (being pregnant and crazy) that if i didnt have a girls name picked out i would def have a boy and i wanted a girl so i barely slept for the two days prior to my appt- finally came up with kaytelin- after katey down the street!

Actually, if you're going in order from oldest to youngest it would be M-A-A-C. William is almost as bad as Michael, it's #10 in popularity. With a last name as common as ours I want the first to be less common. Thanks for the suggestions!

I like Edmund. it is close to Edward but not to popular but very powerful I think. Just remember it may become Eddie if you're alright with that. I love the names, Riley and Ethan personally. I have a friend who asked for help with names but then named her boy River. I thought weird at first but then I liked it alot.

Hey Jill - I like Edmund, but the appeal of Edward is that it's a family name. Did you know Rex and Janine's baby's name is Edmund? He's about 3 months old now. I'm okay with people calling Edward "Ed" or "Eddie", but at home he'll be Edward - I think the names Adrienne and Colette go well together, but somehow the sound of Adrienne, Colette, and ED just sounds funny. And I do like Riley and Ethan too - they were on my list of names, but Mike didn't like them.
